The hospital will open later this summer.\u00a0Photos by Joel Blocker, for UCHealth.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Their ailments ranged from tummy aches and broken legs to bumps on the heads and missing parts.<\/p>\n<p>From the check-in and the exam with a provider to an X-ray and discharge instructions, more than 500 parents and children got to experience what goes on during a medical emergency without the fear factor of an actual emergency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do this to give kids a chance to experience an emergency room without the fear factor of being in an actual emergency. Ken Pratt Blvd. is set to open in late summer with more than 50 inpatient beds and room to grow. More than 2,200 residents took a peek at a number of areas of the facility, from the emergency room and one of the operating rooms to the intensive care unit, the birth center and even the gift shop.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am truly wowed by the wonderful warm welcome we received from the community today,\u201d said Dan Robinson, the hospital\u2019s president and CEO. \u201cWe are excited to start caring for our patients here, and it was a thrill to give the community a look at what\u2019s in store.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LONGMONT, Colo.
