UCHealth broke\u00a0ground Wednesday on Grandview Medical Center \u2013 a 65,000-square-foot medical office building that will house a new orthopedic clinic, a primary care practice with a focus on sports medicine, advanced orthopedic imaging services and an expansive physical therapy clinic and gym.<\/p>\n

The medical center will be built adjacent to Grandview Hospital; when complete, the Grandview campus will be southern Colorado\u2019s first full-service health campus with a focus on sports medicine and orthopedic care. Patients also will benefit from a research affiliation with the University of Colorado School of Medicine\u2019s Department of Orthopedics, a partnership that will bring innovative care, clinical trials and the latest treatments to patients in the Pikes Peak region and beyond.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe addition of the Grandview Medical Center will enable our patients to receive a coordinated, patient-centric experience at a single location that includes primary and specialty care, advanced imaging capabilities and therapy services,\u201d said Andrew Ritchie, chief administrative officer for Grandview Hospital.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are also opening an imaging center that will have the latest capabilities, including DEXA scans that measure bone health and bone density,\u201d Ritchie said. \u201cIn addition, the center will have a weight-bearing CT machine, a relatively new technology that is important for diagnosing foot and ankle concerns.\u201d<\/p>\n

A primary care clinic that features orthopedic experts also will move into the medical center with a specialized focus in osteoporosis<\/a>, fracture prevention and sports medicine. Traditional primary care offerings also will be available at the clinic.<\/p>\n

Through our research affiliation and expanding physician investments in orthopedics, UCHealth will be uniquely positioned to offer our community more sophisticated care, closer to home,\u201d said Joel Yuhas, president and CEO of UCHealth Memorial. \u201cMore and more residents across southern Colorado are turning to UCHealth for orthopedic care as a trusted provider. \u00a0The development of the Grandview campus was a significant investment in our community by bringing world-class sports medicine, orthopedics and rehabilitation to a community that truly needed it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The three-story building, scheduled to open in late 2020, also will house a 7,500-square-foot rehabilitation gym, with room to expand as needs dictate.<\/p>\n

In addition, with\u00a0support from the UCHealth Memorial Foundation, UCHealth Grandview Hospital will become a center for robotically-assisted joint replacement surgery with the addition of new technology offering patients additional options for orthopedic care.<\/p>\n

UCHealth is partnering with MBRE Healthcare to develop and build the new facility. MBRE specializes in developing and managing health care facilities across the United States.<\/p>\n
