Photo courtesy of Lindsey Reznicek.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>What started as a flat horse pasture and is now comprised of six acres of ponds, berms and more than 50 gardens, Yampa River Botanic Park bursts with colors and fragrances each spring and summer.<\/p>\n<p>The park is set up in \u201cneighborhoods,\u201d each with its own story. Plants are labeled by common name, genus and species, plant family and whether they\u2019re native to northwest Colorado. The park\u2019s design is devoid of straight lines, which encourages visitors to wander through each area at leisure.<\/p>\n<p>Botanic Walk Wednesdays and Sundays are guided tours that offer a bit more information about the park and its flora. <a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/stringsmusicfestival.com\/green\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Music on the Green<\/a>, a partnership with Strings Music Festival, is a fun outdoor concert series that takes place during the summer.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Location:<\/strong> 1000 Pamela Lane in Steamboat Springs. Parking is available near Emerald Park. This grassy open space offers plenty of room and an off-leash policy for dogs. With access to both the Yampa River Core trail and the Yampa River, it\u2019s a gathering place for many. Picnic tables, plenty of shade and close proximity to downtown make this park a favorite among locals and visitors. There\u2019s playground equipment, picnic tables and barbeques, and lots of space to let the kids play.<\/p>\n<p>Like the Botanic Park, Little Toots is along the <a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/steamboatsprings.net\/307\/Trails\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yampa River Core Trail<\/a>. Go west, cross a bridge and you\u2019ll find the <a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/steamboatlibrary.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bud Werner Memorial Library<\/a>. Go east and you\u2019ll find yourself among shops and restaurants and at the base of <a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/steamboatsprings.net\/131\/Howelsen-Hill-Ski-Area\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Howelsen Hill<\/a>, North America\u2019s oldest operating ski area.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Location:<\/strong> 55 12<sup>th<\/sup> Street in Steamboat Springs. Thermal pools temperatures range from 101-105 degrees. Cabins are available to rent year-round, with camp sites are available in the summer. In the summer and for more of an adventure, consider <a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.5280.com\/2018\/05\/hike-we-like-walk-to-strawberry-park-hot-springs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hiking the Hot Springs Trail<\/a> before or after your soak.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Location:<\/strong> 44200 County Road #36 in Steamboat Springs. 4-wheel drive with snow tires\/chains is required Nov. 1-May 1.
