Twenty applications were received and reviewed, with 15 grants totaling $325,000 awarded to 13 nonprofits.<\/p>\n<p>The 2021 grant recipients are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/advocatesrc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Advocates of Routt County<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a id=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/www.grandfutures.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Grand Futures Prevention Coalition<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/horizonsnwc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Horizons Specialized Services<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ciiccolorado.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Integrated Community<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mindspringshealth.org\/treatment-services\/locations\/steamboat-springs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mind Springs Health<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nwcci.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Northwest Colorado Center for Independence<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/northwestcoloradohealth.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Northwest Colorado Health<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Partners in Routt County<\/li>\n<li><a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/nwcosuicideprevention.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reaching Everyone Preventing Suicide (REPS)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/health-center\/colorado\/steamboat-springs\/80487\/steamboat-springs-2168-90210\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Planned Parenthood \u2013 Steamboat Springs Health Center<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rccoaging.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Routt County Council on Aging<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Steamboat Montessori<\/li>\n<li><a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/yampavalleyautism.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Yampa Valley Autism Program<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cWe are excited to partner with this year\u2019s grant recipients as we further invest in the health of our local communities,\u201d said Karen Schneider, executive director of the Foundation. \u201cWe\u2019re extremely fortunate to have such dedicated nonprofits working to address mental health, access to health care and substance use disorder. The programs focus on children, adults, preventive services, mentorship, breaking down cultural barriers and more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Multiple recipients are working on initiatives that touch on more than one of the funding priorities. Of the fifteen grants awarded, twelve are connected to mental health initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are thrilled to partner with UCHealth to offer mental health services and behavioral support for our students,\u201d said Michael Girodo, head of school at Steamboat Montessori. \u201cThis grant allows us to provide equitable health services for our students. All students in Routt County will now have proactive access to mental health services.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Partners in Routt County will use its grant to support increased staffing, mentor recruitment and training.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMentors and staff provide essential social and emotional support as a prevention and intervention strategy,\u201d said Michelle Petix, executive director of Partners in Routt County. \u201cWe\u2019re grateful to be a grant recipient, which will allow us to continue addressing the growing needs of our community youth and the mental health impacts of the pandemic and social justice issues.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Grants from the Community Health Benefit Fund (CHBF), the name given to funds the Foundation received from UCHealth, are split equally between two purposes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Annual grant funds for the advancement of health in the communities served by YVMC, including population health initiatives.<\/li>\n<li>Special initiatives for the benefit of programs, services and capital projects within or related to YVMC operations and activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The annual grant funds have been invested to ensure funding is available to support the community and its population health initiatives in perpetuity.<\/p>\n<p>The special initiatives funds are earmarked for larger projects that have the opportunity to effect lasting change in the communities served by YVMC.<\/p>\n<p>The grant cycle will open again on Jan. 1, 2022, following the determination of focus areas based on strategic initiatives set by the Board of Trustees of <a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.uchealth.org\/locations\/uchealth-yampa-valley-medical-center\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UCHealth Yampa Valley Medical Center<\/a>, results of the community health needs assessment and input and feedback from YVMC\u2019s medical staff.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Yampa Valley Medical Center Foundation is pleased to announce thirteen nonprofits are recipients of funding from the 2021 grant cycle of the Community Health Benefit Fund.
