{"id":5100,"date":"2014-10-22T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2014-10-22T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uchealth.org\/today\/2014\/10\/22\/ebola-information\/"},"modified":"2023-06-23T11:15:51","modified_gmt":"2023-06-23T17:15:51","slug":"ebola-information","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.uchealth.org\/today\/ebola-information\/","title":{"rendered":"Ebola Information"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>Update: Ebola-negative patient transported to University of Colorado Hospital<br \/>\nUpdate: Ebola Test is Negative for Patient at Medical Center of the Rockies<\/p>\n<p><em>(Page updated as new information becomes available)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>UCHealth is committed to providing the highest quality and safest possible care for all our patients, while ensuring the safety of family members, visitors, staff and physicians at our locations.<\/p>\n<h2>Ebola cases<\/h2>\n<p><strong>There have not been any cases at any UCHealth location, and there have been very few diagnosed Ebola cases in the U.S. Nonetheless, we\u2019re taking the possibility of seeing a patient infected with Ebola very seriously.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Screening protocol<\/h2>\n<p>Nurses and physicians at each of our locations are carefully screening patients for Ebola risk factors and symptoms, and we\u2019re running drills in our emergency departments, clinic locations and ICU units to make sure everyone on staff is well trained.<\/p>\n<p>Should UCHealth be needed to care for a patient with Ebola, we\u2019re confident we can keep patients, visitors and staff safe. There\u2019s no reason for others to be concerned.<\/p>\n<p>Isolation rooms and units have already been identified to care for any suspected cases, dedicated teams of nurses and physicians will care for only the Ebola patient and no other patient, and the unit will be extremely secure \u2013 safely separated from all other patients and visitors.<\/p>\n<h2>Additional information<\/h2>\n<p><strong>It\u2019s important to note that Ebola is not an airborne disease.
