On Thursday, May 8, 2014, Memorial Hospital, along with Children\u2019s Hospital Colorado, took part in a mass casualty trauma exercise to test preparedness for caring for a surge of patients in the event of an emergency. Memorial Hospital Central and Memorial Hospital North received 71 actors participating as patients from the \u201cSkyfall\u201d exercise originating at the Colorado Springs Airport.<\/p>\n

The patient actors arrived at each hospital\u2019s Emergency Department via bus, helicopter or ambulance, and medical personnel will assess how to treat them. The actors were routed to our units where they would receive care in an actual emergency. By physically transporting patients to the appropriate location within the hospital, Memorial best equips itself to be the most prepared trauma center in the region as it pursues a Level I Trauma Center designation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
