Photo: Getty Images.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Some of Colorado&#8217;s supposedly haunted hotels include <a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hotelcolorado.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hotel Colorado<\/a> in Glenwood Springs, which served as a makeshift Navy hospital and morgue during WWII, the <a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.theoxfordhotel.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Oxford Hotel<\/a> in Denver, which was the site of a brutal murder-suicide in 1898, the <a id=\"\" href=\"http:\/\/goldminerhotel.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Goldminer Hotel<\/a> in Nederland, where the hotel is so nice some formerly living guests refuse to leave, and maybe most famously, the <a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.stanleyhotel.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stanley Hotel<\/a> in Estes Park, which has been named one of America&#8217;s most haunted hotels. You can even explore Stanley Hotel&#8217;s spooky history during a 60-minute &#8220;spirited&#8221; night tour. <div class=\"su-divider su-divider-style-default\" style=\"margin:15px 0;border-width:3px;border-color:#999999\"><\/div>\n<h2><strong>October 4: 16<sup>th<\/sup> Street Grand Opening Celebration- Denver, Colorado<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Once one of the top tourist meccas in the state, 16<sup>th<\/sup> Street, which used to be known as an outdoor mall, suffered during the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>But <a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.downtowndenver.com\/grandopening\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the grand reopening takes place on Oct. 4<\/a>, exactly 43 years after the inaugural opening of the urban revitalization project.<\/p>\n<p>Visitors to the heart of downtown Denver can enjoy music, a scavenger hunt and special birthday treats. An entry fee of $5 helps pay for Christmas toys for needy children in the Pueblo community. And this year, it has expanded to include three main attractions: the Legend of the 13th Floor, Twilight of the Damned and The Blood Shed. Tickets start at about $20.<\/p>\n<p>You can expand your terrifying night to include other activities like escape games or axe-throwing. The 13th Floor Denver is at 3400 E. 52nd Avenue. This celebration of culture, heritage, life and love features traditional live music and dance, face painting, sugar skull decorating, crafts and more.<\/p>\n<p><strong>From 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 26<\/strong>, enjoy a unique community experience that unites all cultures, races and ethnicities. She hoped to find it in the cold-water mineral springs of Manitou Springs, but within two years, her illness overcame her. However, her love for the town was well known, and her wish was to be buried on top of Red Mountain, according to the <a id=\"https:\/\/www.uchealth.org\/today\/es-increibles-huertos-de-calabazas-para-cosechar-usted-mismo-en-colorado\/\" href=\"https:\/\/manitousprings.org\/emma-crawford-coffin-races\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Manitou Springs tourism website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Her partner, an engineer on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uchealth.org\/today\/scenic-train-rides-in-colorado-explore-beauty-and-history\/\">Pikes Peak Cog Railway<\/a>, honored her wish. With help from 11 townspeople, Emma&#8217;s coffin was carried up the 7,200-foot slope and buried near Red Mountain&#8217;s summit. But then, almost 40 years later, nature&#8217;s elements unearthed the coffin, and it raced down the hillside. Even better, she gets to share their stories with the world. As a journalism major at the University of Wyoming, Kati wrote for her college newspaper. She also studied abroad in Swansea, Wales, while simultaneously writing for a Colorado metaphysical newspaper. After college, Kati was a reporter for the Montrose Daily Press and the Telluride Watch, covering education and health care in rural Colorado, as well as city news and business.
