The wound healing nurse with <a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.uchealth.org\/locations\/uchealth-poudre-valley-hospital\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UCHealth Poudre Valley Hospital<\/a> is just as quick to help a teammate.<\/p>\n<p>When his colleague Heather Borchardt, also a wound healing nurse, finished her shift and discovered her new car already had a flat tire, she called nurse manager Kathryn Glenn \u2013 who was in an afternoon meeting. Glenn handed the phone to Klein: \u201cIt\u2019s for you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was like, \u2018I\u2019d be happy to help in any way I can,\u2019\u201d Klein said. \u201cThat\u2019s a bummer, because mentally, she was probably ready to get in her car and head home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He grabbed his jacket and was soon in the parking garage, helping Borchardt find her spare tire.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was chilly that day, standing out there in the parking garage,\u201d Borchardt said. \u201cChris was nice enough to help me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With the doughnut-style spare and the owner\u2019s manual, Klein figured out how to set up the jack. After jacking up the car, then lowering it back to loosen the lug nuts, he soon swapped the flat for the spare.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt least once a year, I change a bicycle flat tire,\u201d he said with a grin. \u201cIt\u2019s a little easier to pick up a bike than it is a car.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Borchardt, who lives in metro Denver, said it probably would have taken an hour for her husband to get there. She added that Klein\u2019s kindness was much appreciated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf it wasn\u2019t for him, I would have been stuck there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Afterward, Klein got on his bicycle and rode home; that\u2019s how he commutes most days. In July, he raced in the Foco Fondo Triple Dog Dare You 100 Mile, finishing 101 miles in 7 hours, 35 minutes. He also races in the <a id=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/www.grassrootsgravel.com\/grg-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UCHealth-sponsored Grassroots Gravel<\/a> in Pueblo.<\/p>\n<p>Klein joined UCHealth in 2007. He said working with outpatients in wound healing offers an opportunity to care for the same patients, frequently over months or years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of the people we work with, we really get to know quite well,\u201d he said. \u201cI really enjoy that.
