The men began sharing their cancer journeys and swapped tips to make treatment prep easier.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was incredible to watch them interact and grow from pleasantries to what they call a brotherhood now,\u201d said Palacios.<\/p>\n<p>Rose and Palacios were inspired by watching this peer support group develop naturally. They built a bond with these men and suggested that they name their group to formalize the daily gatherings.<\/p>\n<p>The pair turned to AI for inspiration and presented an idea that the men loved: Radiators. From then on, the men were known as \u201cRadiators,\u201d and they dubbed their caregivers the \u201cBeam Team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The more time Rose and Palacios spent with the Radiators, the more they picked up on habits that hinted at some treatment prep challenges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTheir treatment prep requires them to have full bladders, and Leah and I noticed they always had liquids with them when they arrived,\u201d said Rose. \u201cThis sparked an idea for us to formally recognize our appreciation for the relationship we built with these men.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>After work, Rose went to Michaels and bought bright green mugs. Palacios headed home to use her personal Cricut \u2014 a smart cutting tool \u2014 to design custom \u201cBeam Team\u201d labels to place on the mugs.<\/p>\n<p>When Rose and Palacios surprised the men with their custom mugs, the reaction was unforgettable. \u201cThey were thankful, emotional and teary-eyed,\u201d said Palacios. \u201cThey even asked us to sign the mugs.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_87003\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-87003\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-87003\" src=\"https:\/\/uchealth-wp-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/6\/2025\/11\/19094717\/Radiators-group-in-LPMC-lobby-YMEP-story.webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"403\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-87003\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Radiators with their Beam Team mugs<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe price of a few mugs to make these men feel special and seen for their camaraderie was worth every penny,\u201d said Rose.<\/p>\n<p>The men made their own Radiators shirts and gifted bright green Beam Team shirts to every member of their care team at their treatment graduation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey had shirts for me and Ruth, the doctors, their nurses\u2026 everyone who helped them through their journey. It was such a kind gesture,\u201d Rose said.<\/p>\n<p>Now that the Radiators have graduated from their radiation treatment, they often come back to Longs Peak Medical Center to greet new radiation patients and offer their support to those who are open to it. They share the hope they were given when they were starting their treatment journeys.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese men have full hearts,\u201d said Palacios. \u201cWe are so blessed to form these special relationships with our patients.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are a daily inspiration for all the good in the world,\u201d said Rose.<\/p>\n<p>From mugs to matching shirts, Rose and Palacios proved that compassion sparks community.
