My guiding principal in caring for patients is to a partner with them to provide the best care for each individual. To do this, I believe in allowing a patient to tell their story from start to finish with minimal interruption and then discuss their diagnosis and treatment options including pros and cons in order to develop a plan with the patient that is appropriate for their life and preferences.
I began my foray into health care as an interpreter for Spanish speaking patients and loved the experience of communicating and educating patients. I wanted to be able to do more in a direct patient care role. From there, I became a medical assistant, EMT, and progressed to becoming a physician assistant and have loved the profession ever since. Outside of my clinical practice, I enjoy cycling, kayaking and hiking. In the past, I have volunteered with multiple organizations from providing free medical services to the homeless as well as the South Georgia Farmworker Health project providing services to migrant farmworkers directly in the fields.
