My approach to patient care is fairly simple- focus on the patient, try to spend as much time as possible understanding not only their medical problems, but their ‘life’ concerns as well, in order to treat them as a whole patient, not just a disease entity. Also realize there are some things medicine cannot fix or cure, and try to discuss realistic expectations and goals with patients and families.
